The ancient vikings were from present day Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. They raided Europe from 793 to about 1200. Many Norwegian customs and traditions are based on the viking ways. Norse mythology and sagas have been passed down from generation to generation from the vikings. They were the first to reach North America and they made permanent settlements in Iceland.
